Sharing the Road

As more and more people are starting to commute by bike and biking as a source of transportation the more these people are going to be on the road with cars, trucks, and buses. As someone that has commuted by bike and rode on the road many times I know that there are a lot of drivers that don't understand the concept of sharing the road. You would think people would think to themselves man this guy or woman is riding to work good for them they are helping stop our dependency on oil and helping the environment and getting exercise. Instead people think that stupid bike needs to get on the sidewalk or get off the road. Crazy people don't understand that riding on the sidewalk is not only uncomfortable but also probably more dangerous then riding on the road, because of all the intersection you have to cross where cars are turning into or out of.

So heres the deal, if you see a bike riding on the road, don't get mad if you have to slow down and wait to pass them safely, it is hardly worth the couple seconds verses possibly hurting or killing a cyclists that is just trying to save a buck on gas or doing some good for our environment.

I agree with the fact that just because you are on a bike doesnt mean you should be able to run stop signs and red lights. If you are going to ride on the road you follow the rules of the road.

Don't be surprised if you brush past a cyclist and the cyclists gives you the finger, it is going to happen and if your lucky enough to get stopped at the next stop light and the cyclist catches you I bet your car will get a new look on "accident" maybe a nice scratch down the side or a kicked out mirror whoops.

Share the road, please.
